Community Theatre brings the laughs with summer production

Medford Area Community Theatre is currently in rehearsals for their upcoming production of The Gods of Comedy.
'Ken Ludwig’s The Gods of Comedy' is a hilarious and heartwarming play that brings the ancient Greek gods into the modern world with a comedic twist. The story begins with Daphne (Veronica Mahner), a young and earnest classics professor, who is working on a significant academic discovery. However, things take a chaotic turn when she accidentally calls upon the Greek gods Dionysus (Buzz Mahner), the god of wine and revelry, and Thalia (Lauren Gierl), the muse of comedy, to help her out of a predicament.
Dionysus and Thalia, who are used to the grandeur and drama of ancient Greece, find themselves bewildered by the complexities of the 21st century. Their attempts to assist Daphne lead to a series of comedic misadventures, misunderstandings, and laugh-out-loud moments. The gods' larger-than-life personalities and lack of modern sensibilities create a delightful contrast with the contemporary setting.
As the play unfolds, Daphne must navigate the challenges of her academic career, her romantic interests, and the unpredictable antics of the gods. The play explores themes of ambition, love, and the timeless nature of comedy. 'The Gods of Comedy' offers a lighthearted and entertaining night with witty dialogue, physical humor, and a touch of romance.
Other cast members include Sandy Bradley, Sean Porten, Gavin Lybert, Al Leonard, Stacy Leonard and Caitlin Huls.
Whether you're a fan of Greek mythology or simply looking for a good laugh, 'The Gods of Comedy' is sure to deliver a memorable and fun-filled performance.
Show dates are Thursday, June 26, Friday, June 27 and Saturday, June 28. Advanced tickets can be purchased at the The Star News office at 116 S. Wisconsin Avenue or at the door before each performance.
