Schilling Farms to hold Granton FFA Alumni Dairy Breakfast

By Jordan Berg, Granton FFA The annual Granton FFA Alumni Dairy Breakfast will be held on the farm again this year, hosted by Luke and Stacy Schilling of Schilling Farms on Sunday, June 1. Breakfast will be served from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at W3514 Tree Road located off of County Highway K in Granton. Bussing will be provided to and from the Granton school at 217 N. Main St.
Luke and Stacy are both third-generation farmers who grew up involved in the agriculture industry. The site of this year âs breakfast is land formerly owned by Stacyâs parents and grandparents. Luke and Stacy built their home on the property in 1998.
Stacy and Luke started crop farming in 2009. They had both grown up on a farm, so they say it just made sense for them to continue the family tradition. Luke and Stacy started out by farming their own land, eventually buying more land and renting the rest. Now, they farm 250 acres. They grow mostly soybeans and corn.
Outside of farming, Stacy and Luke both hold full-time jobs. Stacy has worked as the privacy officer at Marshfield Clinic for 34 years. Luke has owned and operated his own auto body shop for 36 years. In their free time, Luke and Stacy are active in the Granton FFA Alumni. They volunteer at events and even previously hosted the Granton FFA Alumni Dairy Breakfast in 2017. They are also very supportive of the area communities, as the Schillings run the local Christmas Angel Project to provide Christmas gifts and groceries for low-income families.
Though they do not have kids, Stacy and Luke are the proud owners of two dogs, Hershey and Lilly. Hershey and Lilly are great farm helpers as they like to ride in the tractors with Luke. The family will also often go on road trips together to see different parts of the state and country. LukeandStacyareproud of the work they have been able to do on their farm. They have succeeded in continuing their familiesâ tradition of farming into the third generation. The Schillings have worked hard to keep their farm going through the ups and downs of the agriculture crop markets. They are happy with what they have been able to accomplish as farmers and members of the community. The breakfast will be held in the shed that Luke and Stacy built in 2012. There willbehandicappedparking available in the neighboring yard, thanks to Jerry and Dyann Paulson.
Otherwise, the host family asks that everyone park at Granton High School to be bussed to the farm. The menu for the breakfast includes pancakes (provided by Uncle Pancake), special eggs, sausage, cheese curds, applesauce, ice cream, maple syrup, butter, milk, juice, and coffee. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children (K-5), and preschool free. There will be a power sports display, farm equipment, and a display from the Granton Antique Tractor Club. Music will be provided by Tom and Sarah Fern. A petting zoo will also be available at the farm for all guests to enjoy.
