Digging in the dirt

Work progresses on the intersection of county highways H and K. Above is a view looking east from the intersection as of Tuesday morning, as an excavator operator scoops dirt into a dump truck to be hauled away. Below is a view from the hill looking back west toward the intersection. The aim is to lower the profile of the hill to increase sight distance from the intersection and improve safety. Turning lanes will also be added at the intersection. The estimated completion date is July 3. Haas Construction is working at the site, which is approximately 5.5 miles south of Loyal and 6.5 miles north of Granton. Traffic is being rerouted on local highways.
