The ladies of the East Side Lutheran church will give a bazaar and supper Thursday evening, in the Opera hall, May 10th. The ladies have made extensive preparations, and as all who participated in any previous entertainments given by them can affirm, have served suppers not easily excelled. There will also be ice cream, lemonade, candy, a dish-pond, etc., in connection with above.

April 30, 1925 Baseball Prospects Are Now Looking Up a Bit
Baseball prospects for Medford are now looking up a bit, and it looks probably that Medford will have a good team of home talent players in the field. Henry Haanstad has been helping with the work of rounding up the players and the enthusiasm. If plans materialize as he has them started the players will all be home men, unsalaried except perhaps occasionally a pitcher.
75 Years Ago May 4, 1950 City Mail Deliveries Curtailed One Per Day
Medford residential mail deliveries have been cut to one per day, going into effect last Monday. E. G. Henline, postmaster, stated that business districts will continue to get two deliveries per day as in the past.
Carriers are limited to 35 pounds maximum so relay boxes are filled throughout the city by the mail truck. Mail is being picked up from letter boxes between 3:00 and 3:00 o’clock afternoons.
50 Years Ago May 1, 1975 Hospital Asked to Expand Facilities
Memorial Hospital of Taylor County board of directors were authorized Tuesday night at the annual meeting to study the need for a residential care facility for elderly. The motion was made by William Van Laarhoven sr., asking the board to study the feasibility to develop a facility and, feeling it to be needed, to submit plans and cost figures at the next annual meeting.

May 4, 2000 Gilman approves timetable for new Village Hall/Library
The Village of Gilman could have a new municipal building/library in place in 2002 under a flexible timetable approved by Trustees at their regular meeting on April 26. Trustees also discussed potentially hiring a professional fundraiser or consultant to assist in raising money for the project.
The current Village Hall and Library was built in 1950 and does not meet current codes for handicapped accessibility and safety requirements.

April 30, 2015 Feeling the heat
Fire knocks out power, disrupts area businesses; clean-up continuing The call before you dig message was pounded home for the Medford area on Wednesday when a survey crew punctured a gas main in the downtown.
At 9:27 a.m., the Taylor County dispatch center received a call alerting them of the gas main break to the southeast of Handel Automotive on Main street. Firefighters from the Medford Area Fire Department were dispatched to the scene where a pickup truck and drilling rig, owners by the survey crew company, were on fire.
