One vehicle crash
On April 19, at 5:10 p.m., a vehicle operated by Madison Winter, 23, of Wausau, was traveling northbound on Settlement Dr. in the town of Chelsea, when it entered the east ditch and continued to travel over a driveway (at N6632 Settlement Dr.) before striking a large rock and stopping. According to the crash report, the driver stated that she was heading to her parents’ house in Westboro and did not know what happened. She told deputies that she had back pain. The vehicle sustained functional damage to the front end and was removed by family members.
On April 19, at 1:10 a.m., a vehicle operated by Preston Walters, 20 of Medford, was traveling northbound on Martin Dr. in the town of Goodrich. According to the crash report, the driver advised they were on their way home from a friend’s house and observed a deer standing in the middle of Martin Dr. The driver stated he moved over to the right to avoid the deer and that due to the muddy roads their truck was pulled into the ditch. The vehicle sustained functional damage.
On April 15 at 12:15 a.m., a vehicle operated by Daniel Coddington, 48, of Jim Falls, was traveling southbound on CTH H near CTH S in the town of Aurora. The vehicle missed the curve and entered the west ditch. The vehicle traveled through the ditch and brush and came to rest on the west embankment of CTH H. According to the crash report, the driver was not on the scene and the deputy was able to make contact later in the day. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. He was cited for failure of operator to notify police of an accident.
On April 12, at 11:13 p.m., a vehicle operated by Roger Becker, 40, of Stacy, Minn., was traveling southbound on Hwy 102 in the town of Rib Lake. The vehicle left the roadway and entered the west ditch near the address of N9570 Hwy 102. After entering the ditch, the vehicle proceeded to strike a tree and started on fire. The driver was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Medford Hospital and Clinics and sustained minor injuries and was later arrested due to operating while under the influence. The vehicle was towed from the scene due to disabling damage.
On April 6, at 1:18 a.m., a vehicle operated by Alexandra Gustafson, 18, of Medford, was traveling southbound on CTH C in the town of Browning. According to the crash report, the vehicle was traveling at about 55 mph when Gustafson was distracted by her cell phone. When Gustafson dropped the phone, the vehicle swerved into the west ditch of CTH C and struck a tree. Gustafson was wearing a seat belt and reported having severe pain on her ankle. She was extracted from the vehicle and transported by ambulance to Aspirus Medford Hospital. Gustafson was cited for inattentive driving. The road was closed for one hour and 16 minutes.
