LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Thank you for a successful blood drive:
I would like to thank everyone who stopped in at our blood drive that was held July 12th at the Colby VFW.
It was our first blood drive back at the VFW in years, so I wasn't sure what the turnout would be, and with a special memorial drive coming up in August.
Our goal was 22 donors. Well, we were short by 3. That is okay, because our total collection numbers were excellent.
We had 10 first time donors! That is amazing. We collected 12 whole blood donations and 6 dual reds. The dual reds count as 2, so we collected 24 products. I would like to thank the VFW post 2227 and Auxiliary for hosting the blood drive, and thank you to Dee, owner of A& W for the ice cream cone donation.
I had a summer cook out basket as our door prize. That was won by Lucy Irish.
I also did a business challenge, that whoever had the most employees donate from their company would win a prize. The winner was the Colonial Nursing home. I will be dropping of a gift for each employee that donated next week.
The Colby VFW and Auxiliary will be hosting another blood drive, November 1st. That way the folks who donated dual reds will be eligible. (Time to be determined).
We are still at a critical blood supply. You can help the Versiti team improve that by stopping at the Colby High school on either August 16 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., or August 17 from 8 a.m. to noon.
This is a memorial drive is in memory of a very special person, Denis Woik. Please help Kris and the family make this a huge success. You can still be a summer hero.
Thank you, Lin Mueller Coordinator
