Students witness the ‘Power of Agriculture’ Students witness the ‘Power of Agriculture’

The Power of Ag Career Expo held Friday at H& S Manufacturing, UWSP at Marshfi eld and Mid-State Technical College in Marshfield. Ten schools attended the event including: Granton, Greenwood, Loyal, Spencer, Auburndale, Marshfield, Neillsville, Pittsville, Stratford and Columbus Catholic. The students rotated through six different pods at H& S which gave them insights into various careers in the agriculture industry.

Attending businesses at the H& S location were: AgCountry Farm Credit Services, Marawood Construction, Pifer's Land Management, ArborVantage Tree Care, Northside Elevator, Insight FS, Rock River Laboratory, Central Star Coop, Land O' Lakes, Nasonville Dairy, Wenzel's Farm, Marshfield Veterinary Service, Equity Cooperative Livestock Sales Association, Wood County Farm Bureau, Cranberry Learning, Inc., Wisconsin Farm Bureau, Norm-E Lane Farms, Swiderski Equipment Inc., Seehafer Refrigeration, Custom Fabricating and Repair, Riesterer & Schnell, Oxbo Forage Division and Marshfield Clinic Research Institute.

Each business had the opportunity to show off what product or service they provide those in the agriculture industry and provided immersive opportunities for students to explore potential job opportunities for their post-high school careers. There were 22 career clusters with various businesses located on the campuses of Mid-State Technical College and UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield. The event was organized by the Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Top: A Greenwood student tests his hand at a tractor simulator provided by Insight FS. The simulator gave students a taste of what it is like to operate farm machinery on roads and in fields. Below, students spent part of the day at the newest plant at the H& S Manufacturing facility on Hume Avenue in Marshfield.
