Dorchester Lions to collect 1,000 pounds of plastic for waste challenge

The Dorchester Lions are endeavoring on a “Trex Challenge.” This challenge involves collecting 1,000 pounds of plastic that is clean and dry in a 12-month period. The collection will keep plastic from ending up in landfills, waterways and cut down on our plastic waste keeping the environment ecofriendly. In accomplishing this challenge, the group would be awarded a high performance composite bench from TREX to be donated to the village of Dorchester.

The Dorchester Lions are asking the public’s assistance in collecting their plastic waste. Plastic bottles can not be accepted as a part of this challenge.

The Lions will have collection recycling bins placed at Meyer Lumber, the Cenex gas station by the ice machines, Pinter’s Packing in Dorchester and Computer TR in Abbotsford. Please do not put your garbage with this. Below is the list of plastic items the Lions can collect. If you are unable to get out and about, a Lions member would be willing to stop and pick plastic up from you. Call a Dorchester Lions member at 715-314-1251 to arrange to have someone pick up your plastic.
