A career of giving comes to a close

Al Nixdorf, center, was presented with a plaque honoring his 34 years of service to the Central Fire and EMS District by his son and EMS Chief, Travis Nixdorf, right, and Central Fire and EMS Chief, Joe Mueller, left. Al Nixdorf joined the Abbotsford Fire Department as an EMT in 1989. In 1990 he went on to fire class and became a firefighter. Over the years Al worked his way through the ranks and served as the Abbotsford Ambulance EMS Chief, a position Travis holds for the Central Fire and EMS District today.
