Caucus names candidates for village election
There were 26 voters at the village caucus, held at the armory Friday evening. The principal business was to nominate candidates for village trustee and justice of the peace. Ed Stock, Lewis Goldamer, George Kelsey, W.O. Colby, Don Armstrong and Mel Atzen were the leading vote-getters.
$116.50 collected in Heart Fund Drive
Walter Kuenzi, local chairman for the Heart Fund drive has reported that $116.50 has been collected in Abbotsford, Milan and Curtiss. He extended his thanks to the public for their support in the recent campaign.

Salary schedules decided at Abby board meeting
The Abbotsford School Board and the Abbotsford Teacher’s Association agreed on a salary schedule for the coming school year. The total cost of the salary pact is $34,142.74. The base salary for a bachelors degree was raised from $7,600 to $8,000.
Colby School Board approves referendum resolution
Voters in the Colby Public School District will be voting on a $1.1 million elementary school for the city of Colby in the general election on April 2. The one story structure is designed to house the youngsters currently attending the upper and lower elementary buildings.
Dorchester girl swamped with mail
Kay Seidel, 10, of Dorchester, received 12,000 pieces of mail over the past two weeks. Kay’s tutor, Mrs. Frank Bohte, wrote a letter to the Enquirer, a Florida paper. The paper recently carried the story of Kay’s illness and the fact that she likes to receive mail.

Area farmers confront electric co-op board on issues of power quality
A group of about 60 farmers clarified a message during a rally at the Clark Electric substation at Hwys. N and Q Saturday afternoon, then delivered it to a meeting of the Clark Electric board of directors in Greenwood on Tuesday.
Abby board looks at major textbook purchases
With textbooks dating from their birth, junior high students at Abbotsford High School may see new social studies, math and science texts next year. All the new texts are estimated to cost $74,900 and the district currently has $42,000 in the budget for textbooks this fiscal year.
Gearing up for ‘Grease’
The Colby High School synchronized swim team rehearsed this week for their annual performance, ‘Grease,’ scheduled for 8 p.m. this Friday and Saturday.
