C alendar CENTRAL FIRE AND EMS OPEN HOUSE

The Central Fire and EMS District will be hosting an open house on Sunday, Feb. 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the fire station in Abbotsford at 112 West Spruce Street. The fire district will provide live demonstrations of various fire fighting utilities and will have a tour of the fire and police stations.

HAPPY HOOPS

The Colby Booster Club will be sponsoring Happy Hoops again this year. The program is free for all involved and will take place on Saturdays from 9 - 10 a.m. at the Colby High School Gym. The event is open to boys and girls 4K - 4th grade and will teach kids basic basketball skills and drills in a fun environment. Happy Hoops will run on February 24 as well as March 2.

DORCHESTER LIONS CLUB SPAGHETTI DINNER

The Dorchester Lions Club will be putting on a spaghetti dinner from 4 - 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22 at the Dorchester Memorial Hall. There is a charge for each meal but children 5 and under can eat free. Carry outs are available and attendees can save on tickets by purchasing them in advance from any Dorchester Lions member or local businesses such as Forward Bank - Dorchester, Meyer Lumber, Pinter’s Packing, Cuts Plus or Computer TR in Abbotsford.

DAIRYLAND DONKEY BASKETBALL

The Colby FFA Alumni and Supporters will be hosting donkey basketball at 7 p.m. in the Colby High School gym on Saturday, Feb. 24. Tickets can be purchased in advance at any of the school offices in Colby or can be purchased at the door as well. All money raised goes towards scholarships for students pursuing careers in agriculture.

STRONG BODIES

Classes are forming for the Strong Bodies programs in Loyal starting in February from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Mondays and Thursdays. These will take place at the Loyal Library, 214 N Main Street with instructor Teresa Hall.

Strong Bodies is an evidence-based, progressive strength-training program held throughout the United States. To register, please contact the UW-Extension office at 715-743-5121.

COLBY TRAILBLAZERS EVENT

The Colby Trailblazers snowmobile club will be hosting a chili feed fundraiser at One More Cast in Unity on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. The event will include homemade chili, in house raffles, a 50/50 raffle, basket raffles and more.

COLBY VFW FISH FRY

The Colby VFW will be hosting a Lenten fish fry on Friday, Mar. 1 from 5-8 p.m. Orders can be placed by calling 715-2232227. Limited seating and carryouts will be available. Deep fried cod will be served with rye bread, choice of potato salad or french fries and coleslaw or cottage cheese. Proceeds will be going to the Colby VFW building fund.
