Treasure hunt now on; free show Saturday

The Chamber of Commerce extends an invitation to you to be guests at a free show at the Abby Theatre, Saturday afternoon. Arrangements have been made for this movie to be given for you. There will be a full length movie, “Canyon Raider” and four cartoons.

Fewer deer this year

The early reports of successful deer hunters were almost finals, as since then, we have heard that Neal Ingersoll and Ole Elstrom each got a buck. Three bucks were shot in the party of eight, with whom Frank Brodhagen was hunting.

Abby council discusses dump permits, sewage ordinance

The city of Abbotsford will probably charge residents $1 for a dump permit each year, to be billed with the first quarter water and sewer billing it was decided at the regular meeting of the Abbotsford City Council on Monday.

Abby wrestlers take on Panthers

Abbotsford high school wrestlers won six out of the ten matches in a home meet with Pittsville Thursday night, but the meet still ended in a tie.

Colby Hornets beat Loyal 67-55

The Colby Hornets swept to a 67-55 win over the Loyal Greyhounds after falling down 15-10 in the opening quarter. Lea Eggebrecht led the team with 16 points.

Abby receives $75,000 donation for Shortner Park

The City of Abbotsford was handed a check for $75,000, to fund improvements at Shortner Park, by Jack Nikolay at last week’s December council meeting. The donation could include picnic areas, rest rooms and a shelter although no definite proposals have been made.

School’s Red Arrow Park rental fee cut to $1

Abbotsford School District representatives came to last week’s city council meeting hoping to get a reduction in the $1,500 annual rent the district pays for the use of Red Arrow Park. The motion to reduce the rental fee for the district to $1 passed 4-3.

Abbotsford Christmas Parade winners

The winner of the ATV was Bill Clark and the top young winners were Tyler Rau who won the sports center and Trisha Schneider who won the kitchen center. The prizes were contributed by the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce.
