C ounty Taylor CONGRATULATIONS Dana Bradley Educator What do you teach? of the Month I am a Special Education Paraprofessional, currently working with middle school and high school English students. How long have you been an educator? This will be my third year being an educator. Who was your favorite/best teacher when you were a student and why? I had a teacher that left a big impact on me when I was a student, her name was Mrs. Neises. She was my English teacher when I was in middle school and she really helped push me to do better and join things, like forensics, that I probably wouldn’t have thought about otherwise. She may have been a middle school teacher, but she checked in and followed up on me throughout all of high school. She did not have to do that, but she did and that has really stuck with me. Why did you choose this profession? I originally chose to be an educator because I would have the same schedule as my kids and be able to see them throughout the day. What inspires you to continue as an educator? While I greatly enjoy both perks of having the same schedule as my kids and being able to see them throughout the day, I quickly realized that being an educator was what I was meant to do. I love helping students and seeing the changes in their demeanor and self esteem when they accomplish something they didn’t think was possible. Being even a small part of helping someone feel this way, means so much to me. What is your favorite memory as an educator? I couldn’t possibly pick just one favorite memory while being an educator because they continue to happen everyday. Overall, I just really love the connections that I have made with the students and helping them become the best version of themselves.
