Notice of Annual School District Meeting (Section 120.08(1)) Notice is hereby given to the qualified electors of the School District of Gilman that the annual meeting of said district for the transaction of business, will be held in the District Library, on the 7th day of October, 2024, at 7 o’clock p.m. /s/ Lauren Zach, District Clerk School District of Gilman Annual School District Meeting and Budget Hearing District Library Monday, October 7, 2024 - 7:00 p.m. Agenda 1. Call to Order, Board President (or designee) 2. Pledge of Allegiance 3. Election of Chairperson 4. Appointment of a Clerk 5. Approval of the agenda 6. Review of 2024-25 Budget 7. Budget Hearing: The electors have the right to be heard on the proposed budget. The electors do not approve the budget. The electors do vote on the local tax levy needed to implement the budget. However, in accordance with Wisconsin Statutes 120.12(3), the school board, on or before November 1, following the calculation of the district’s revenue cap, determines the amount necessary to operate and maintain the district schools and, on or before November 6, certifies the final tax levy. 8. Adoption of tax levy for 2024-25 school year 9. Consent items a. Authorize the Board to furnish a school lunch program and appropriate funds for that purpose. b. Authorize the Board to contract for student transportation services. c. Authorize the Board to furnish student textbooks. d. Authorize payment of actual and necessary expenses of Board members incurred in the performance of their duties. e. Authorize and provide the prosecution or defense of any legal action or proceedings in which the school district is interested. f. Authorize the sale of surplus school property. 10. Establish Board members’ salaries and determine pay for half day (50.00 under 4 hours) and full day (100.00 over 4 hours), workshops, events and committee meetings. Suggested motion: That annual salaries for Board of Education members be set at $2,400 for the President, $2,800 for the Clerk, and $2,200 for other board members. 11. Other Business: a. Set date for next Annual Meeting – October 6, 2025 @ 7:00 p.m. (Needs to be sometime between May 15, 2025 and October 31, 2025.) b.
