Parks to join Rib Lake Hall of Fame Parks to join Rib Lake Hall of Fame

The induction ceremony for Richard Parks, the newest member of the Rib Lake School District Hall of Fame, will be held on Friday, January 27 at 1:30 pm in the Rib Lake High School Gymnasium.

The public to join in honoring Parks, a 1979 graduate from Rib Lake High School.

Parks is a lifelong educator who began his career in 1983 in the School District of Marathon as a mathematics teacher, baseball and basketball coach, and advisor to the Math League. He then moved into school administration as an assistant principal and then principal at Three Lakes Junior/Senior High. At Three Lakes he created the Academic Honors Banquet and assisted in the creation of the School/Community Arts Association. In 2004, Parks then became the District Administrator of the School District of Phelps where his school earned a Blue Ribbon Award and a trip to Washington, DC. By 2008, he returned to the School District of Marathon where he has been the District Administrator for the past 14 years and counting.

Parks is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics education. He would later earn his Masters of Science in Education Administration and an Education Specialist degree in Superintendency from the University of Wisconsin-Superior. To further grow himself, Park also obtained a Master Administrator certificate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Along with a highly noted career in See PARKS on page 10 education, Parks has been a member of a number of professional organizations, helping push both himself and his colleagues. He is a member of a number of state and national level school administration organizations. One association that is particularly close to his heart is the Wisconsin School Music Association Board of Directors, which he has served on for 9 years and is the current president of the organization.
