Rib Lake schools is trying to keep the school year from creeping into June.

At the Rib Lake Board of Education meeting on January 12, 2023, board members voted to forgive the third snow day instead of extending the school year by a day. District Administrator Travis Grubbs stated that even with the three snow and ice days, the district still had the requisite amount of minutes required by the state for the year. The Board had made the decision to have two “bad weather” days built into the calendar for this year, both of which were used up very quickly this winter season, as well as a third.

The Board stated that they would revisit this issue if there is another bad weather day, whether it be snow, ice, or something else entirely.

The student council will vote on these issues among themselves, and will do research on why certain policies (i.e. dress codes) exist in both Rib Lake and other districts. If an issue needs to be passed by the Board of Education before a change is made, student council members will present it to them, and do their best to convince them of the change.
