DISTRICT 15 DISTRICT 15

Lynn Rosemeyer

Hi, my name is Lynn Rosemeyer and I am running for Taylor County Board District 15 representing the Village of Gilman, Towns of Ford and Aurora. My husband Jay and I have lived in rural Gilman for 42 years. We have two adult sons/daughters-in-law and five grandchildren. I am retired from Kraft Heinz as an Area Human Resource Manager for Wausau, Beaver Dam and Weyauwega. Prior to that I worked at Tombstone Pizza in Medford for 20+ years in a variety of roles in Human Resources and Safety. My husband and I were also former co-owners of Paradise Shore 4 Resort in Holcombe.

I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Human Resource Management, Concordia University, Mequon, WI and an Associate Degree in Supervisory Management, Chippewa Valley Technical College, Eau Claire, WI.

Why do you want to serve on the County Board? In the last County Board election in 2020, all 17 districts ran unopposed. At the September, 2021 County Board Meeting a resolution to reaffirm the Taylor County Board’s support of the United States Constitution and the Wisconsin State Constitution was brought to a vote and failed 9-8. As a long-term resident of Taylor County, I am committed to representing the Gilman area on the County Board. I am a strong conservative and will bring my values of family and country to the board supporting law and order, freedom and the Constitutions of the U.S. and State of Wisconsin.

What do you think biggest challenge facing the county over the course of the next five years will be and how would you address it?

One of the major challenges facing our county is the ability to attract and retain qualified candidates/employees. The job market concerns are everywhere in our country and more difficult in rural areas. The county is currently working on revamping the pay scales which is a great start, however having the funding to support the pay increases that are needed is an issue. I would support a pay for performance versus just years of service. The county will also need to continue to look at ways to attract employees to our area.

I also have concerns with the current Emergency Medical Services in Taylor County particularly in the rural areas. I was a former Emergency Medical Technician and understand the importance of EMS and the need for more help. Aspirus Hospital manages the EMS and I would challenge them to find ways to have more full-time EMT’s to support the 24/7 coverage in the rural areas. Relying on our neighbors in Medford to respond to an ambulance call in Gilman or Rib Lake is not an acceptable option. I also think Aspirus needs to be more transparent and accountable with the county on their operating costs for the ambulance service.

How can the county help promote economic development and residential population growth especially in more rural portions of the county?

Getting reliable internet service to the rural areas is much needed. You can’t compete without a connection. Global businesses can be launched from anywhere with technology. The county is currently working on broadband internet service and the Gilman Village is working with Ntera to bring in a high-speed internet this year. Economic development needs to encourage entrepreneurs by helping with resources and capital. I have recently joined the Gilman Development Foundation Committee and hope to help with connectivity and creativity in our community.

Would you support a more formalized administrative leadership structure for county employees? Why or why not?

I support a more formalized administrative leadership structure for our county. A county administrator that handles the day-today operations would benefit our county in many ways including ensuring consistency and accountability in all departments.
