Taylor Credit Union held 69th Annual Meeting on Feb. 22

Taylor Credit Union (TCU) held its 69th annual meeting on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Medford Area Elementary School, with 135 registered members in attendance.

Chairman Mike Handel reported that at the end of 2019 the credit union’s assets were $60,067,044 and that loans were $40,474,566. There are now 7,985 members who have a total savings of $53,332,858. Member savings are federally insured up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration. Chairman Handel noted that the credit union has a strong net worth of 11.03%. Taylor Credit Union’s field of membership is open to “everyone residing or employed within Taylor, Clark, Price, Lincoln and Marathon counties and a 25 mile radius of the City of Medford.” He reported that the remodeling of the Medford office was complete in March 2019. The additional offices provide private areas for the staff to meet with members. He encouraged members to open a Saver’s Sweepstakes™ account which awarded $4,200 in prize money to 38 TCU members in 2019.

President Debbie Woods spoke to members about being credit union “champions”. The members were asked to encourage their family and friends to become members of TCU and take advantage of our great services. The “Open Your Eyes to a Credit Union” campaign was introduced to the members. She shared that the credit union’s fourth annual “March into Reading” event, with a “Lights, Camera, Read” theme, will start on March 2 to support the Taylor County Literacy Council. She thanked the members for their loyalty to the credit union.

A special guest speaker at the annual meeting was State Representative James Edming. He spoke briefly on the importance of credit unions, labor programs and answered questions from the membership.

Informational booths were on display for the membership pertaining to fraud and scam protection; Saver’s Sweepstakes; and the “Open Your Eyes to a Credit Union” campaign. Lunch was served and enjoyed by those in attendance. Taylor Credit Union’s 70th annual meeting is planned for Feb. 27, 2021.
