In the first round of Regional action, May 27, the No. 10 Cornell-Lake Holcombe softball program was at No. 2 Colfax, but the game was one-sided. The Knights struggled to put any runs on the board and the match went to the Vikings, 11-0.
“We fought hard, but Colfax is a very good team,” said coach Andy Lorenzen. “I am proud of our girls and it was fun to watch them grow this season.”
Senior Candice Spaeth was on the mound for the final time in her career, going four innings and allowing, 8 hits, 11 runs and 4 walks.
Spaeth and junior Faith Heinzen had the only hits for the Knights.
“We had our ups and downs, but overall, it was a very positive season,” said Lorenzen.
