It took 12 years, but Cadott’s baseball program is back in the playoff hunt, as they came up with a Regional victory.

Before the Hornets could host Regional action, they had to finish out the regular season, on the road at Durand-Arkansas. However, Cadott’s offense wasn’t there and the home team took the shutout win, 10-0.
That put Cadott at 10-9 overall on the year, and 5-5 in the West Cloverbelt Conference.
Sophomore Isaac Wellner was on the mound for Cadott, going an inning, giving up 4 hits and 5 runs, and walking 3 batters. Freshman Joel Weeks then took over, for just over five innings, allowing 7 hits, 5 runs and striking out 5.
Senior Warren Bowe, and juniors Michael Wellner and Carter Matherne all added a hit.

It was then time to play host to No. 10 Glenwood City, with the game going slowly until the fifth inning. As the No. 7 seed, Cadott scored the lone run in the first inning, then watched as both teams went through a drought.
All that changed in the fifth inning, when the Hornets knocked in three runs. The visitors attempted a comeback in the sixth inning, adding a run, but that would be it and Cadott held on to take the 4-1 win, advancing them on to the second round of Regionals, at Marathon, June 3.
Senior Warren Bowe was at the helm, pitching almost a complete game, allowing just a single run and a single hit, while punching out 16 batters. With one out left to go in the top of the seventh and a 4-1 lead under his belt, Bowe’s pitch count went over 100 and with a standing ovation, his career on his home field was finished.
Freshman Drew Rykal then took over and closed out the game, to give Cadott the win.
Offensively, Rykal, Wellner and Weeks all had a hit. “This was Cadott varsity’s first playoff win since 2013, great work boys,” said coach Brandon Geist.
