First place finishes abound for Knights

Conditions were brutal, May 16, for the Cornell-Lake Holcombe track program, as they were at New Auburn for a meet.
Despite that, the Knights saw a lot of success, as senior Hunter Anders placed first in high jump (5-0), while junior Alex Dixon was also first in the 800-meter run (2:35.15) and also took second in triple jump (33-6.75).
Also placing first, was sophomore Bryce DeJongh, in pole vault (8-6), with junior Carson Stipek placing second in that event (8-6). Junior Tommy Kane also finished near the top, taking fourth in shot put (33-3.75), while junior Jordan Ness was fifth in the 400-meter dash.
In addition, the 4x200-meter relay team placed first.
For the girls, junior Megan Paff came in second in shot put (31-9.5) and third in discus throw (88-7), with freshman Ann Pogodznski in second in the 100-meter hurdles (22.35), third in the 300-meter hurdles (1:02.28) and fourth in high jump (4-0). Freshman Kaitlyn Helland finished fourth in the long jump event (10-9.5).
“The weather was not good, but our athletes still competed the best they could,” said coach Laurie Bowe. “I am proud of their mental toughness.”
