After battling less than stellar weather and schedule changes, the Cadott track program finished out their regular season with 10 West Cloverbelt Conference championships under their belt.

May 16 Home Meet
It was then time to host their annual meet at home, which turned into a rainy, windy affair.
“Man, the weather was not optimal on Friday, but the kids really came to compete, regardless,” said coach Pat Rothbauer.
Sonnentag came up with first once again, taking the top spot in the 400 dash (56.13), 100 hurdles (16.16) and long jump (17-01), with Mathison also taking first in shot put (33-03) and discus (113-09).

For the boys, Steinke also placed high, taking first place in the 3,200-meter run (10:14.28) and fifth in high jump (5-04), with sophomore Kaden Roen placing first in the 400 dash (52.62). Sophomore Jon Phelps followed that with third in the 3,200 run (11:53.84), as did Saibyn Will, in the 300-meter hurdles (48.75), while Ramseier was fourth in the 200 dash (24.76).
The 4x800-meter relay team also claimed first.
May 19 Conference Meet
After the weekend to rest up, the Hornets were at Stanley- Boyd, for the conference meet.
“This was a great meet for both of our teams,” said Rothbauer. “We talked to the athletes about keeping the right mindset, as sometimes, athletes do not do well when there is an extreme change to the set schedule. I feel our athletes did a great job overcoming this potential setback.”
At the end of the day, Cadott came home with 10 championships. Sonnentag led the way with that, taking the title in the 400 dash (56-09), 800-meter run (2:19.2), 100 hurdles (14.78) and long jump (18-04.75), as well as second in the 100 hurdles (15.71).
“What more can be said about Iszy Sonnentag?” said Rothbauer. “She continues to break her own school records and set a new conference record in the 100 hurdles.”
Mathison also became a champion, in shot put (35-11) and discus throw (126-03), and was third in high jump (4-06). Blum was right behind in second, in shot put (3011), while Goodman placed fifth in long jump (16-01.75). Spaeth finished in fifth in the 100 dash (56.9) and 400 dash (1:06.04).
Champions on the boys’ team included Roen, in the 400 dash (52.51) and Steinke, in the 800 run (2:03.69), while Faber was second in high jump (5-08), third in the 110 hurdles (18.70) and fifth in the 300 hurdles (48.10). Will followed with a fourth place finish in the 300 hurdles (47.62) and Reineke was fourth in discus (120-00).
Capturing first place in relays, were the boys’ 4x400meter (Will, Ramseier, Steinke and Roen) and 4x800 teams (Will, Phelps, Roen and Steinke).
“We are looking forward to the Regional meet and are really hoping to have some much better weather,” said Rothbauer.
