In the first game of the doubleheader, it was a slug fest, but in the end, Bloomer took the win, 15-14.

Senior Kasey Moldrem went all seven innings, giving up 20 hits and 15 runs, while striking out 6.

Coming up with hits for the Hornets, were senior Tarynn Donahue and junior Kennedy Nerdrum, with 4 hits each, Moldrem and sophomore Kaylee Reineke each adding 2. Juniors Lexi Bremness, Abi Bowe and Gracie Dahm all chipped in with a hit.

“It was a tough battle, especially in the heat last night,” said coach Lexie Rothbauer.

The second game was much different on the scoreboard.

“We played good defensively and offensively in the second game, unfortunately, so did Bloomer,” said Rothbauer.

Bloomer came away with a 14-4 victory over the Hornets, taking the second win of the night.

Moldrem was again at the helm, going all seven innings, giving up 16 hits and 14 runs.

On the offensive side, Reineke, Moldrem, junior Karlee Davis and Donahue all had 2 hits, while Bremness and Nerdrum each added a hit.

“Our team showed a lot of mental toughness through it all,” said Rothbauer.
