Even though the Lake Holcombe archery program qualified to attend Nationals in Louisville, Ky., May 8-10, they were unable to get any flight time.
“The entire team belonged there,” said coach Ashley Carothers. “The team brought their heart and dedication to the range this season, and I couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve achieved together.”
Luckily for the team, freshman Andrea Friedman qualified to shoot at the IBO 3-D challenge, which is no small feat.
“Even if the tier wasn’t high, making it to that level shows the grit and talent it takes to compete among the best,” said Carothers. “I’m incredibly proud of her and everything she’s accomplished this season.”
Friedman finished with a score of 265, in 112th place in her age level and with an overall rank of 773 out of 3,135 girl archers.
“Nationals is where the best show up and she proved she belongs there,” said Carothers. “Now, we are just waiting to see if she gets a spot for the championship in Myrtle Beach.”
