Only a few strokes separate Knights from the top spot

By Ginna Young

The Cornell-Lake Holcombe golf program is right where coaches expected it to be – in the hunt for the conference championship.

May 1 Birchwood Match

Off to Birchwood, the Knights were in action seeing some of the best scores they’ve had. Leading, was sophomore Bryce DeJongh, with 46, while junior Logan Jaedike followed that with a 49. Senior Torren Parker added to the team score by carding a 51 and junior Alex Dixon scored 57.

“As a team, we scored 203, which was just two strokes behind first place Turtle Lake, who had a team score of 203,” said coach Megan Bitney.

May 2 Home Match

The next day, the Knights were at home, hosting multiple schools, ending with a team score of 191, just shy of first, again behind Turtle Lake. They also rank third in the conference.

“We are incredibly proud of how these boys are playing this year, and we’ve just had our best team score in the past 10 years,” said Bitney.

Neck-and-neck, were DeJongh and Dixon, with 45, while Parker had 46 and Jaedike carded a 55.

“We are playing very consistently and looking to take off a few strokes leading up to our conference match…” said Bitney.
