Hornets going through a rut, look to turn it around
By Ginna Young
It was a rough week for the Cadott softball program, as they dropped all three games against their opponents.
April 29 vs. McDonell conference (L 8-0)
To begin, Cadott took on McDonell, on the road, but offense didn’t seem to make the trip, as the Macks took an 8-0 shutout win.
“We couldn’t quite get our bats going the way we wanted to,” said coach Lexie Rothbauer.
Senior Kasey Moldrem was on the mound for Cadott, going six innings, giving up 11 hits, 8 runs and striking out 8.
Getting the only hits for the Hornets, were juniors Abi Bowe and Kennedy Nerdrum, and sophomore Reineke.
“I think we’re in a bit of a rut at the moment, but I can feel us getting out of it,” said Rothbauer.
May 1 vs. Regis conference (L 13-7)
A couple days later, the Hornets hosted Regis, but although their offense got going better, they still dropped the match, 13-7.
May 2 vs. Elk Mound non-conference (L 11-0)
With no time to rest, Cadott then saw Elk Mound come to town, but were shutout in the game, 11-0.
