Girls gain some valuable experience in first outing

To begin the season, the Cadott girls wrestling program was off to Antigo, Dec. 7, where they placed third out of 23 teams.
Taking individual honors, was junior Iszy Sonnentag (114), who “pinned her way through the tournament” to claim first place over Wausau West’s Montana Sinclair, by fall, in 1:45. Sophomore Tessa York (120) also zipped through the tournament, to place first in her match with Memphos Laakonen, of Ashland, by fall, in 1:05.
“Neither wrestled past the first period in their debut,” said coach Greg Sonnentag.
While she’s new to the district, senior Abigail Moss (138) came in third in a tough bracket, claiming her match over Kambria Heisler (Wausau West), in a 3:11 fall.
“The rest of the girls had some success, got some valuable experience and scored team points, as well,” said G. Sonnentag.
