Reineke brings home the title from Ellsworth meet

Kicking off their season Dec. 7, at Ellsworth, the Cadott boys wrestling program came home with one champion from the day, with that honor belonging to junior Mitchell Reineke (215 pounds), who received a bye in the first round, before taking down Jeshua Gonzalez, of St. Thomas Academy, in the quarterfinals, by fall, in just eight seconds.

Reineke then quickly downed Maeson Tradup (Plainview-Elgin-Millville), in a 14-second fall. He then faced off with Spring Valley-Elmwood’s Jack Steinmeyer, by fall, in 1:59.

Also placing high, was senior Kaleb Lodahl (120), who came in second, dropping the championship match to Holmen’s Nathan Henderson, in a 15-0 technical fall.

Placing fourth for the Hornets, was freshman Oliver Sudbrink (144), who fell in a 20-9 major decision to Vinny Costabilo, of River Falls. Sophomore Jon Phelps (150) also came in fourth, as he went down to Nolan Ford (Plainview-Elgin-Millville), by fall, in 1:18, while sophomore Owen Fasbender (157) was also fourth, dropping his match to New Richmond’s Noah Zanon, in a 1:16 fall.

Earning sixth place, was junior Monte Lodahl (138), who fell to Prior Lake’s Owen Trondson, in a 14-13 decision, as well as sophomore Brenton Faber (165), who dropped his match to Scott Hendricks, of Prior Lake, with a 9-3 decision.

Coming in eighth, was junior Steven Williams (132), seeing Austin Krentz, of Spring Valley-Elmwood, take the match in a 19-5 major decision. Sophomore Brock Webster (190) also placed eighth, falling to Malachai Zelms (Regis-Altoona), by fall, in 1:30.
