Sox sport seven All-Stars

The Independence Day holiday didn’t slow down the Cadott Red Sox Baseball team, as they faced a non-league foe, before taking part in the Chippewa River Baseball League (CRBL) All-Star Game.
July 1 vs. Chippewa Falls LumberJacks (W 8-4)
After a week off, Cadott was again on the field, going up against the Chippewa Falls LumberJacks on the road, in a non-league match.
Chad Kron hit a three-run run homer in the first inning and the Sox drove forward from there, to claim an 8-4 victory.
Gio Basile pitched four innings, getting the win, while Kron made his pitching debut and struck out 4 batters.
Luke Erickson ended the day with 2 hits, including a double, and Bennett Bowe and Axel Tegels each had a pair of hits.
July 7 All-Star Game (L 2-0)
The Sox then saw several of their roster play in the CRBL All-Star game, held at Jim Falls, with Cadott as part of the North Division.
“Cadott had seven players make the game, which was second most in the league, behind the Eau Claire Bears, with nine,” said manager Rick Danielson. “Cadott had five starters, which was the most in the league. “
Starting for the Sox, were pitcher Zack Thiesse, catcher Jonah Hanson, second baseman Jake Kein, third baseman Kron and leftfielder Erickson. Outfielder Jack Redwine and pitcher Basile were reserves.
Going scoreless until the eighth inning, the South Division scored a run in that inning and the next, to take a 2-0 win.
“It was a very good game,” said Danielson. “Pitching was dominant for both the North and South teams.”
The Sox will now play at Bruce, this coming Saturday, in a four-team tournament.
“Cadott won the tournament last year,” said Danielson.
