Knights shut out by Colfax to end season

By Ginna Young

As the No. 3 seed in their softball bracket, Colfax played host to No. 6 Cornell-Lake Holcombe, but offense was definitely a factor in the game.

“We ran into a really tough team, in Colfax,” said coach Andy Lorenzen. “Colfax is one of the better hitting teams I have ever seen as a coach.”

Colfax put eight runs on the board in just the first inning, then added another two in the next, before putting another two runs on the board in the fourth inning, to take the 12-0 shutout win.

“Our girls fought hard, but came up short,” said Lorenzen.

Senior Brooke Anderson was on the mound for the four innings, giving up 11 hits and 12 runs, while walking 4 batters and striking out 3.

On offense, junior Richelle Raether had the only hit for the Knights.

“I am very proud of our team, especially our seniors,” said Lorenzen. “They had a great season and I am very grateful for everything they have done for the program. I am excited to look forward to what the returning players can do next year.”
