The Cadott Red Sox Baseball team was back in action at home May 5, for a sun-filled match with Bloomer, as part of the Chippewa River Baseball League (CRBL).

Neither team scored until the fifth inning, when Bloomer got on the board with a run, which spurred the Sox to action in the seventh, when Logan Burzynski hit his first career CRBL homerun to tie the game.

“The homerun sparked a rally for the Sox, as they scored three more runs after the lead-off solo homerun,” said manager Rick Danielson.

The Woodticks added another run in the top of the ninth, but it wouldn’t do any good and the Sox took the 4-2 win.

Zack Thiesse went all nine innings for Cadott, allowing 7 hits and 2 runs, while walking 4 and striking out 14. Thiesse now has 26 combined strikeouts in just two starts (17 innings).

Offensively, Zac Merritt ended with 2 hits for Cadott, while Logan Burzysnki, Austin Goettl, Chad Kron and Shawn Sedlacek all had a hit.
