Rain proves too much for the Sox to overcome

By Ginna Young

It was a miserable day to play baseball, but despite the windy, cold and rainy conditions, the Cadott Red Sox were warmed up for their game at home, April 28, against the Chippewa Falls Lumberjacks.

The Sox moved up their start time to try to beat the rain, but to no avail. Neither team scored in six innings of play – whether that was from the cold hands of players or just good defense on both sides, didn’t matter in the end.

Getting on the board with a run in the seventh inning, the Lumberjacks added another two runs in the eighth. Desperate to catch up, the Sox put a run up in their side of the eighth, but it wasn’t enough, as the game was called, giving the Lumberjacks a 3-1 victory.

Taking the mound for Cadott, was Zack Thiesse, who went all eight innings, giving up 3 runs on 8 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 12.

Offensively, Logan Burzynski, Sam Feck, Austin Goettl and Jonah Hanson all added a run.
