It was hard to get in a full game for the Cadott baseball program, between darkness and heavy rain.

April 30 vs. Bloomer conference (tied 6-6)

To begin the week, the Hornets were off to Bloomer, with both teams scorelesss through the second inning, until Cadott got on the board with a run in the third. Another two innings went by with no score, then the Hornets added two more runs in the sixth, with Bloomer answering with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning.

The Blackhawks then piled on three runs in the seventh and while neither team scored in the eighth inning, both brought two runs across the plate in the ninth, sending the teams to the 10th inning to decide the winner, but darkness forced the game to be halted at that point, tied up at 6-6.

The game was scheduled to resume two days later, when Bloomer was set to meet Cadott on their field, but rain put the kibosh on that and the game has yet to have a victor.

On the mound for Cadott, was junior Warren Bowe, going five innings and allowing one run, while striking out 13. Senior Connor Roth then took over for three innings, giving up 5 runs and striking out 2 batters.

Offensively, Roth came up with 3 hits, followed by sophomore Aiden Rykal and freshman Isaac Wellner, with 2 hits, while senior Axel Tegels and Bowe each had a hit.

May 3 vs. Fall Creek conference (L 7-2)

The skies had cleared up by the next day, and Cadott was ready to host Fall Creek, in what turned out to be a battle. The Hornets struck first, getting two runs in the first inning, but neither team would score until the fourth, when the Crickets put four runs on the board.

That would be it for either team and Fall Creek took the win, 7-2.

“Our pitching and defense was really sharp to keep us in the game, but we could not get the big hits when we needed it,” said coach Brandon Geist.

Rykal threw six innings for Cadott, giving up 10 hits and 7 runs, striking out 2, while Tegels went for an inning, striking out 3.

On the offensive side, Tegels had 2 hits, while senior Easton Goodman, Bowe, Rykal and Wellner all came up with a hit.
