Girls moving three onward to State in Cadott wrestling

In just their second year, the Cadott girls wrestling team is seeing huge success, as they had four girls compete at Sectional action Feb. 17, taking place in Edgar. When the day was done, three of the four were moving on to grapple in the State tournament Feb. 22-24.
Sophomore Iszy Sonnentag (100 pounds) will make her second trip to State, after buzzing through the first part of the bracket through byes, before facing Ladysmith’s Briley Burmeister, winning by fall, in 1 minute.
Tessa York, a freshman (114) who had a stellar youth career, is also heading for State, after receiving victories through byes, then taking the win over Bruce’s Shelby Garcia, by fall, in 5:42.
Acting as manager for the Hornets’ team in previous years, this year, senior McKenna Harel (120) is also making the trip to State, after winning by byes.
Senior Alaina Kempen was unable to notch her spot to State, ending her high school career.
“Everyone wrestled tough, we have a short week this week, before we head down to the Kohl Center, to make history,” said coach Zach Sirny.
