Chiefs fall in their final regular season games

Cornell was in action to wrap up the East Lakeland Conference and the regular season, with the boys basketball squad on the road, before the last home game of the year.

Feb. 13 vs. Clayton conference (L 52-24)

The Chiefs first took on Clayton on the road, to open the week, but in each half, the Bears stayed just out of reach of Cornell catching up and claimed a win, 52-24.

Senior Bentley Spangler and junior Torren Parker led for Cornell, with 6 points, followed by senior Jayden Joas-Shaw, with 5. Junior Hunter Anders was right behind, with 4 points, and sophomore Carson Stipek followed that up with 3.

Feb. 16 vs. Bruce conference (L 73-22)

To close out the week and the regular season, the Chiefs hosted Bruce, but scoring just wasn’t there for the home team, only coming up with eight points in the first half. The second half wasn’t much better and the match went to the Raiders, 73-22.

Leading for Cornell, was senior Carter Harycki, with 6 points, while Spangler added 5 and Anders had 4. Parker, Stipek and freshman Bryce DeJongh all chipped in with 2 points, and Shaw connected on a free throw.

The Chiefs final record sits at 2-21 overall and 1-15 in the league.
