In two games on the road, the Cadott girls basketball program faced challenges that led to a pair of losses.
Jan. 30 vs. Cameron non-conference (L 78-53)
It was off to Cameron to begin the week, with the Hornets watching the home team take a 20-point lead into the break.
“We got off to a slow start, then played much better the rest of the way, but could not climb all the way back,” said coach Dave Hazuga.
The Comets went on to win the game, 78-53. Leading for Cadott, was sophomore Taylor Hager, with 11 points, followed up by senior Emma Kowalczyk, with 9. Junior Kasey Moldrem came next, with 5 points, while junior Tarynn Donahue, and sophomores Kennedy Nerdrum and Danielle Sikora were right behind, with 5 points each.
Junior Brooklyn Hrdlicka, sophomore Lilly Spaeth and freshman Ava Eiler all added 3 points each.
“Team is showing improvement and so are the girls, individually,” said Hazuga.
Feb. 2 vs. Regis conference (L 67-36)
To end the week, Cadott headed to Regis, where the Ramblers put on a scoring barrage in the first half, going up 47-14, by halftime.
“This game was a physical battle,” said Hazuga. The Hornets outscored Regis in the second half, but the first-half lead was too great and the Ramblers claimed a 67-36 victory.
“Our effort and execution has been good,” said Hazuga. “We just have some areas that need improvement.”
Moldrem made three shots from beyond the arc, for 9 points, while Spaeth shot a pair of threes for 6 points. Hager and Kowalczyk also each knocked down a threepointer, finishing with 5 points each.
Donahue also shot a three, with senior Bradee Burish ending with 4 points and Nerdrum adding 3 points.
Cadott sits at 9-11 on the season and are 3-9 in West Cloverbelt Conference action.
“We are looking to show improvement when we play everyone, but especially the top teams in the conference,” said Hazuga.
