Hornets fall in their back-to-back games

By Ginna Young

Cadott’s boys basketball team is trying to find a rhythm, as they stepped on their home court against two tough conference opponents.

Jan. 16 vs. Fall Creek conference (L 74-40)

Fall Creek was the first foe of the week, with the Hornets falling behind in the opening half. The Crickets took a 22-point lead into the break and, unfortunately for Cadott, scoring dried up in the second half.

The Hornets were unable to catch up to the high-scoring visitors and the Crickets walked away with a 74-40 victory.

Senior Braden Schneider led for Cadott, with 12 points, followed by junior Cameron Allard, with 9.

Jan. 19 vs. Bloomer conference (L 74-40)

A few days later, Cadott played host to Bloomer, with much a repeat from the earlier game in the week. Down by 19 points at halftime, the Hornets couldn’t get their offense going, nor hold down the Blackhawks.

Bloomer kept steady in the second half and claimed a 74-40 win.

Schneider again led, with 18 points, while senior Brodee Burish had 8 and junior Jackson Barone ended with 6. Junior Parker Davis came next, with 4 points, and Allard and junior Nolan Freed each added 2.

The Hornets are now 5-11 on the season and remain winless at 0-8 in the West Cloverbelt Conference.
