Lake Holcombe’s girls basketball program played host Dec. 27, as Butternut came to call, for a non-conference game. The Chieftains took a slim, three-point lead into the break and the match remained close throughout, but Butternut pulled away as the second half drew to a close.
Fouls added up and so did Butternut’s points at the free throw line, and Lake Holcombe watched the visiting team take home a 61-56 win.
Senior Emma Lechleitner led for the Chieftains, with 32 points, hitting her 1,000th career point. She was followed by freshman Payton Birkenholz, with 12, and freshman Katya Kuc, who had 8. Freshman Maria Andres ended with 4 points on the night, while sophomore Alexia Hoffner chipped in with 2.
