Cadott splits holiday games

In back-to-back games played at Elmwood, Cadott’s boys basketball team split the matches.

Dec. 27 vs. Ellsworth non-conference (L 66-60)

The Hornets headed off for a match-up with Ellsworth, in the first of two games over the holiday week. It was an even first half, but Ellsworth pulled away slightly in the second, to take a 66-60 victory.

Junior Braden Schneider put up a terrific 36 points, including four shots from beyond the arc, while seniors Brody Burish and Nolan Blum, and junior Cameron Allard all contributed 3 points. Sophomore Parker Davis followed that with 5 points and junior Jackson Barone connected on a free throw.

Dec. 28 vs. Elmwood-Plum City non-conference (L 69-66)

Cadott was back the next day, to face off with Elmwood-Plum City. The Hornets led by 12 points at halftime, but the host team wasn’t going down without a fight.

Although they threw a scare into Cadott, the Hornets were determined and came home with a 69-66 win.

Schneider blew by his previous day’s total, knocking in another four long-range shots, ending with 42 points. Allard also connected on four shots from beyond the arc, for 12 points, with Burish adding 5 points.

Blum chipped in with 4 points, while junior Riley Sopiarz had 3, Barone finished with 2 and Davis made a free throw.
