Cadott shows a lot of heart on mats at Northern Badger

It was off to the Northern Badger in River Falls, where the Cadott boys wrestling program sent nine grapplers to the mats in the two-day event, Dec. 28-29, coming in 20th out of 46 teams.

Senior Axel Tegels (215 pounds) placed highest for the Hornets, in fourth place, after winning over Bradey Gottwald, Hayward-Northwood, in a 6-4 decision. Senior Caden Kingston (175) also placed high, for fifth, winning over Menomonie’s Steele Schaefer, in just 53 seconds.

Junior Kaleb Lodahl (120) came next, in sixth place, dropping his final match with Cumberland’s Noah Hile, by a 15-4 major decision.

Not placing, were sophomore Monte Lodahl (126, 2-2); senior Nick Goettl (132, 0-2); freshman Owen Fasbender (132, 2-2); freshman Jon Phelps (144, 2-2); sophomore Mitchell Reinke (190, 3-2); and junior Tucker Salzgeber (285).

“Our young team battled, showed a lot of fight and gained experience,” said coach Josh Spaeth.
