Cadott falls in away games

By Ginna Young

Cadott was on the road twice over the week, for boys basketball match-ups, going up against some tough competition.

Dec. 7 vs. Bloomer conference (L 74-61)

First up, was Bloomer, in a league bout between the two teams. The first half wasn’t kind to the Hornets, as Bloomer took a 14-point lead into the break.

The second half saw Cadott take over, outscoring the Blackhawks, but to no avail, with the deficit from the first part of the game. Time ran out on the Hornets and they dropped the match, 74-61.

Senior Nolan Blum knocked down a whopping 24 points for Cadott, followed by junior Cameron Allard, with 10, with junior Braden Schneider right behind, for 9 points and 8 rebounds. Junior Nolan Freed came next, with 8 points, while junior Blane Mengel ended with 5.

Junior Parker Davis added 3 points to the mix and junior Jackson Barone chipped in with 2.

Dec. 9 vs. Glenwood City non-conference (L 62-58)

Just two days later, the Hornets faced off with Glenwood City, in a match-up at UW-Stout. The match-up was a close affair, with Cadott holding a three-point lead going into halftime. The Hornets hung on as long as they could, but Glenwood City pulled ahead at the end, to claim a 6258 victory.

Blum led once more, with 14 points, with Schneider recording 11, while senior Brodee Burish pulled in 15 rebounds and 4 points, and Freed ended with 9 points. Davis followed that with 7 points, with Allard and Barone right behind, for 5 points each.

Rounding out the scorebook, senior Eli Burich added 3 points.

The Hornets are now 3-2 overall and 0-1 in league action.
