Meeting in a non-conference match Nov. 30, Cadott’s girls basketball program acted as host to Lake Holcombe. The game started out slow on both sides, but by the time the break came, the Hornets had opened up the offense, leading by 34 going into halftime.

The Chieftains tried to rally, but Cadott continued the scoreboard domination, taking the victory, 78-25.

“We played really well most of the game,” said Cadott coach Dave Hazuga. “We were able to execute offense and get into a lot of good looks.”

Leading for Cadott, was sophomore Taylor Hager, with 17 points and 9 assists, followed by senior Emma Kowalczyk, with 15 points, while sophomore Kennedy Nerdrum notched 11 points.

Nerdrum also led with 12 rebounds.

“We have to focus on our rebounding, that area wasn’t the best,” said Hazuga.

Senior Bradee Burish, junior Tarynn Donahue and Hager all came up with 4 steals, and Kowalczyk added 5 blocks.

On Lake Holcombe’s side, junior Abby Jones led with 8 points, while freshman Payton Birkenholz finished with 5 and senior Emma Lechleitner had 4 points. Junior Chloe Lee, sophomore Megan Paff, and freshmen Katya Kuc and Maria Andres all chipped in with 2 points each.

“We are such a young team,” said Hazuga. “We are enjoying working on our time to grow together.”
