Hornets grapplers hit the mats to begin the season

The Cadott wrestling program opened the season at Ellsworth, Dec. 2, as part of an invitational, making high marks in their first time on the mats this year.
Senior Axel Tegels (215 pounds) reached the highest honors of the day, taking part in the first place match with Prior Lake’s Brock Zurn. Tegels battled, but conceded defeat to his opponent, in a 5-1 decision. Junior Kaleb Lodahl also brought home second place, while sophomore Mitchell Reineke was fourth.
Senior Caden Kingston and sophomore Iszy Sonnentag each placed sixth, followed by sophomore Monte Lodahl (132) and freshman Brock Webster (165), who placed seventh. Junior Tucker Salzgeber (285), brought in eighth place, dropping his match to Tyler Vanasse, of Spring Valley-Elmwood, in a 1:22 fall.
Freshmen Jon Phelps and Brenton Faber finished in eighth place.
