Cadott topped by the Mounders

By Ginna Young

Cadott was on the road Dec. 2, at a weekend girls basketball match-up with Elk Mound, where scoring was at a premium for the Hornets. The visitors were held to just 15 points in the first half, but after the break, the scoring drought really became apparent for Cadott, as they added just 4 points to the scorebook.

The Mounders, meanwhile, racked up the points in the first half, but were held to just 28 in the second portion of the game. With such a large deficit, Cadott was unable to catch up and the game went to Elk Mound, 69-19.

“Saturday’s game was a learning experience for us,” said coach Dave Hazuga.

Junior Kasey Moldrem led for the Hornets, with 8 points, followed by juniors Tarynn Donahue and Brooklyn Hrdlicka, who each added a three-pointer. Senior Bradee Burish and sophomore Taylor Hager each chipped in with 2 points, while sophomore Kennedy Nerdrum made a free throw.

“With a few injured players, we had lineups out there that were not used to playing together,” said Hazuga, “but it’s early in the season, so we will have a chance to improve on that and I’m confident the girls will do just that.”
