Cadott comes up with nail-biting win at home

By Ginna Young

To begin the week, Cadott’s boys basketball program acted as host to non-conference opponent Abbotsford, in a battle for the win Nov. 28. The bout was close throughout, with the Hornets going into halftime, down by four points.

“The only lead we had, came with two minutes left in the game,” said coach Shawn Schoezel. “I thought we did a really good job in the second half, of preventing the three-point shot and rebounding, which allowed us to stay close and eventually take the lead.”

It came down to the wire, but Cadott was determined to claim the victory, which is what they did, by a slim two-point lead, 54-52.

“The kids played very well, stuck with the game plan and never got down on themselves,” said Schoezel.

Senior Nolan Blum led for the Hornets, with 18 points, followed by junior Braden Schneider, with 10, 6 rebounds and 6 steals, while junior Jackson Barone ended with 7 points. Junior Cameron Allard knocked down a pair of three-pointers, for 6 points, and senior Brodee Burish also connected on a three, going 3 for 4 on free throws, with 10 rebounds.

Junior Parker Davis also hit a three-point shot, with juniors Nolan Freed and Riley Sopiarz each adding 2 points.
