Chiefs fall to the Lancers in match-up on the road

By Ginna Young

In their first game of the season, with a new coach and a new attitude toward improvement, the Cornell boys basketball program headed to E.C. Immanel, Nov. 27, for a non-conference match.

The Chiefs fell behind early on, going into halftime down by 27 to the home team. The second half was a different story, as Cornell’s defense stepped up to the plate, holding the Lancers to just 20 points.

However, the Chiefs only scored eight points in the half and the deficit was too great to overcome. Cornell watched the opening season game go to Immanuel, 63-24.

Junior Hunter Anders led on the night for Cornell, with eight points, two of those coming from a three-point shot; Senior Jayden Joas-Shaw was right behind him, also connecting on a three and finishing with 7 points.

Senior Bentley Spangler also came up with two shots from beyond the arc, for 6 points, while sophomore Carson Stipek knocked down a free throw.
