Hornets fall just short in quest for State berth

By Ginna Young

Cadott’s football program didn’t want to see the season end, as they hit the road to No. 3 seeded Cameron, for the second leg of the WIAA playoffs Oct. 27. Coming in as the No. 7 ranked team, the Hornets weren’t about to go down without a fight.

However, Cameron struck first, scoring a touchdown in the opening quarter and one in the second. After the break, Cadott came to life and senior Easton Goodman came away with a 32-touchdown run, along with a two-point conversion run.

That put the score at 14-8, but it wouldn’t stay that way long, as Cameron again got on the board with a touchdown in the third quarter, to go up 20-8. Cameron added two more touchdowns in the fourth and while Goodman scored a last-effort touchdown with just under three minutes left in the game, it wouldn’t be enough.

Cameron walked away with the victory, 34-16, and the Hornets officially put their season to rest.

Goodman led the way for Cadott, with 128 yards rushing, followed by junior Warren Bowe, with 49 yards and senior Connor Roth, with 1. Senior Jordan Peters ended the night with 4 yards passing and Bowe chipped in with 4 yards receiving.
