Lake Holcombe takes down Raiders at home

By Ginna Young

Fans turned out in full force for Lake Holcombe’s Pink Night, Oct. 10, as the volleyball program hosted Bruce in a league match-up.

“Our fans came out in full force and were awesome,” said coach Beth Meddaugh.

The Chieftains took the first set, 25-13, but Bruce wouldn’t give up without a fight and took the second set, 25-20. Lake Holcombe came charging back to take the third set, 25-7, but fell to the Raiders, in the fourth set, 25-14. The Chieftains refused to go down and came up with the win in the fifth and final set, 15-12.

“Bruce came ready to play tonight,” said Meddaugh. “They were motivated and put up a good fight, but we were able to maintain our communication and energy level to take the win.”

Juniors Emmy Kirkman and Chloe Lee led the team with 17 digs each, while junior Abby Kane was right behind, with 16. Lee also captured 23 assists. Senior Ava Story added 10 kills on the night, with Jones chipping in with 8 and senior Emma Lechleitner had 7.
