Chieftains can’t push past visiting Hornets

By Ginna Young

There aren’t many home games on the schedule for Lake Holcombe’s football program, but for those that are, the Chieftains are taking full advantage of it and learning from each match-up. Alma-Center was the opponent Sept. 7, in one last non-conference game before league action starts.

Striking first, the Hornets put up eight points on the board in the opening quarter, then added 16 more before the break. The visitors then crossed the goal line with 28 more points, but Lake Holcombe wasn’t letting them go so easy.

The Chieftains got on the board with 12 points in the fourth quarter; however, the Hornets continued to add to their score and as time ran out, walked away with a 58-12 win.

That brings Lake Holcombe’s record to 0-3 on the season.
