The Loyal-Greenwood (LG) and Spencer teams lined up to race in the Sept. 9 cross country meet at Colby High School.

LG had five male finishers in the 5,000-meter run. The first to cross the finish line was Connor Genteman, who took 11th out of 73 runners with a time of 17:56.16. Next for LG was Cody Eckes, who placed 47th with a time of 21:11.79. Wyatt Mulvaney was about a minute-and-a-half after him, at 22:43.02, good for 59th place. Ridge Ashbeck took 64th at 23:41.13 and Lucas Nielsen rounded out the LG boys team, coming in 69th at 24:48.81.

The LG girls team had just two finishers: Summer Smith, who took 15th with a time of 22:43.36; and Bailey Eckes, who took 30th with a time of 24:47.58.

The LG boys placed 10th out of 10 teams with 212 points. Other team scores were Pacelli 68, Rhinelander 105, Medford Area 112, Colby-Abbotsford 113, Stratford 116, Columbus Catholic 123, Pittsville 154, Owen-Withee 167 and Mosinee 180. The LG girls did not have enough runners to register a team score.

The Spencer Rockets also had several athletes compete. For the girls team, Theresa Knecht took 40th place at 27:03.51, with Kaydence Plaskey right behind her in 41st with a time of 27:09. Addison Knecht was not far behind, with a time of 28:49.96 and finishing in 45th place. Brooklyn Baumgarten took 47th place at 30:52.65. Kaitlin Radu finished 48th at 31:16.26 and Ariana Krueger was 51st at 34:12.84.

On the boys’ side, Isaac Howlett was the first Spencer finisher, in 44th place with a time of 20:59.91. Fletcher Post took 58th with a time of 22:41.07. Next was Breckin Miller, in 62nd place with a time of 23:07.47. Henry Glamm took 71st at 26:40.83.

The Spencer girls placed sixth out of six teams with 165 points. Other point totals were Medford area 30, Colby-Abbotsford 51, Stratford 63, Rhinelander 83 and Columbus Catholic 146. The Spencer boys did not have enough runners to earn a team score.
